Athletic performance taping includes everything from athletic tape to kinesiology tape
Athletic tape is wrapped tightly over and around an injury to restrict movement and create support that is rigid to prevent further injury.
Kinesiology tape is different from athletic tape in the sense that it is elastic and not wrapped around an entire joint or muscle. Instead it has biomechanical properties that lifts the skin away from the underlying tissue to allow for increased blood flow and lymphatic drainage. This will not only increase healing time but can increase performance.
